Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to pay a two-day visit to Assam from Saturday, during which he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects and address public meetings. During the visit, he will also pay homage to the martyrs of the Assam movement, a six-year-long violent anti-foreigner agitation that began in 1979.(DPR PMO/ANI) The PM, inter alia, will inaugurate the ₹4,000 crore new terminal of the Guwahati airport, which, he said, will give a major boost to Assam’s infrastructure. IndiGo and Akasa Air on Tuesday shifted their flight operations to the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1 from Terminal 2 which has been temporarily closed for maintenance works. Delhi Airport Terminal-2 Shuts For Maintenance, Flights Shifted To Terminal 1

New Delhi: IndiGo and Akasa Air will shift their domestic flights to Delhi airport’s Terminal 1 from Terminal 2 starting Tuesday as T2 will be temporarily shut for maintenance work. The new T1 will be fully operational from Tuesday (April 15). At present, IndiGo and Akasa Air have flights from T2, which handles around 270-280 air traffic movements and serves over 46,000 passengers per day. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), operated by DIAL, has three terminals — T1, T2 and T3 — and four runways. It is also the country’s largest and busiest airport . Currently, T1 and T2 are used only for domestic flights. T2 will be closed temporarily to carry out maintenance works from April 15 and one runway is already shut for maintenance works. Work on the terminal is progressing swiftly in preparation for the upcoming summer vacation, when families and visitors throng the city’s waterfront for boat rides, followed by the tourist season that begins in Kerala with Onam. One of the largest terminals of the Water Metro, it is coming up next to the renovated ferry terminal of the State Water Transport department (SWTD), opposite the Dutch Palace in the heart of Mattancherry heritage town. “Once ready, the Water Metro terminal will be able to berth up to three electric-hybrid ferries at a time, with additional space for berthing ferries at night.
