Now pay 7.5% penalty for not installing tertiary-treated water connections | Chandigarh News
For residents and institutions owning properties of one kanal and above, who have not yet installed tertiary-treated water connections, will now face a penalty of 7.5 per cent on the total water bill. The decision was taken during the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation’s General House meeting on Tuesday. According to the Chandigarh Water Supply Bylaws, 2015, tertiary-treated (TT) water connections are mandatory for owners with properties of one kanal and above. The Chandigarh civic body has also proposed selling TT water at Rs 7 per kilolitre, a prominent increase from the current rate of Rs 2.50 per kilolitre. According to the municipal corporation (MC) data, of the 7,385 one-kanal houses, only 2,906 have installed TT water connections. And as far as institutions are concerned, only 150 of the 414 institutions have complied with.
