India thrash Pakistan for three points

India thrash Pakistan for three points

The Indian men’s Hockey team produced a sensational attacking performance to defeat arch-rivals Pakistan 7-1 in the reverse fixture of their FIH Pro League at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Friday. Despite trailing early in the first quarter, India responded with seven brilliant goals from Sukhjeet Singh (20’), Harmanpreet Singh (26’), Hardik Singh (34’), Jugraj Singh (35’), Abhishek (41’), Raj Kumar Pal (44’) and Dilpreet Singh (54’) to secure all three points. Midfielder Hardik Singh was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance and control in the midfield. Both the teams started the match with high intensity, but it was India who won the first penalty corner within the opening 90 seconds thanks to a quick baseline run by Mandeep Singh. While India pushed forward with high tempo, Pakistan’s dangerous counter-attacks allowed them to win a penalty corner in the 13th minute. Following an unsuccessful video referral, Pakistan captain Abu Bakar Mahmood (13’) converted with a drag-flick to give his team a 1-0 lead at the end of the first …

Spain bounce back; ride Lamine Yamal magic to thrash Saudi Arabia

Spain bounce back; ride Lamine Yamal magic to thrash Saudi Arabia

4 min readNew DelhiJun 22, 2026 12:28 AM IST There is little that could have jolted the Goliath-esque Spain more strongly than being kept at bay by Cape Verde’s veritable David. Coach Luis de la Fuente said as much before the World Cup favourites’ meeting with Saudi Arabia. “The team is stung and sometimes criticism is motivating. The players do read things, they’re angry, and for sure tomorrow, the game will be very different.” Six nights after failing to break through Cape Verde’s resistance at the same Atlanta Stadium, La Roja made amends in style. Lamine Yamal’s maiden World Cup start sparked a ruthless 4-0 hammering of their Asian opponents. The Green Falcons, seeking to emulate the great Cape Verde escape, employed five men at the back in a departure from their usual 4-4-2 formation. But it was scant insurance against the artistry of an 18-year-old. Yamal showed what Spain were missing in their opener from the outset, prancing around the Saudi defence threateningly in the very first minute. Ten minutes of pressing in the …

Deepti takes 5 wickets as India thrash Pakistan, open T20 WC campaign with win | Cricket News

3 min readJun 14, 2026 10:30 PM IST The Indian women’s team began their T20 World Cup campaign with a bang after a dominating 64-run win against Pakistan on Sunday with Sree Charani and Deepti Sharma starring with the ball and Smriti Mandhana looking assured with the bat. Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza had started Pakistan’s run chase steadily but they were sent back before they could do much damage. After that, Pakistan started losing wickets in a bunch, where they went from 53/2 to 79/6 at one point as the Indian bowlers made merry. Deepti took 5 while Charani snapped up 3 as the Pakistan lower order could not help their team recover from the early collapse. Earlier, Mandhana’s batting was grace personified as her regal 44-ball-68 along with Richa Ghosh’s cameo took India to a fighting 170 for 6. Ghosh (34 off 17 balls) provided the final flourish as left-arm seamer Tasmia Rubab went for 23 runs in the penultimate over which could eventually prove to be decisive. Mandhana’s elegance was on full …

Japan thrash India 6-0 in U20 Women’s Women’s Asian Cup | Football News

3 min readApr 2, 2026 11:54 PM IST India suffered a 0-6 defeat at the hands of formidable Japan in their opening match of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup at the Thammasat Stadium here on Thursday. Six-time champions Japan got the lead early on through an own goal by Thoibisana Chanu Toijam (12th minute). India, playing their first Asian Cup match in 20 years, had a good start early on, with Shubhangi Singh and Sulanjana Raul combining well on the left to set Sibani Devi Nongmeikapam through. The latter’s low cutback, however, was intercepted. Japan, however, were quick to respond, and two minutes later, Kimura thudded the crossbar with her left-footed effort. They got the early lead that they wanted, though luck may have been on their side for the opening goal. Fukushima’s accurate free-kick from …
