A solid knock from Mosaddek Hossain and a four-wicket haul from Nahid Rana put Bangladesh on an advantage and secured an 86-run victory (DLS Method) against Australia on June 09 at Dhaka.

After an unbeaten 86 run knock from Mosaddek Hossain, Nahid Rana picked 4 wickets against Australia to set up a massive advantage for the hosts in the rain-affected game.

By this win, Bangladesh secured a 1-0 lead in the game and will be aiming to continue the momentum.

After being invited to bat first, Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan Tamim opened the innings while Xavier Bartlett opened the bowling attack.

Nathan Ellis brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Saif Hassan on a full and around the off stump as the ball got outside edge towards second slip, where Marnus Labuschagne picked the catch.

However, Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto forged a solid 94-run partnership for the second wicket. Tanzid Hasan smashed his fifty and went on to score 54 runs before being dismissed by Nathan Ellis.

He got dismissed on the back of the hand slowly delivery from Nathan Ellis, where the batter mistimes the ball in the air towards mid-on. Xavier Bartlett takes a step back and takes a comfortable catch as Bangladesh lose their second wicket for 106 runs.

Litton Das, who came to bat at No.4, was dismissed by Matt Renshaw as he took the catch. Matt Renshaw bagged his second wicket, dismissing Najmul Hossain Shanto for 67 runs. He got dismissed after a stunning catch by Cooper Connolly in long-off.

Hridoy, who scored 31 runs, got dismissed by Xavier Bartlett as Bangladesh lost 5 wickets for 215 runs.

However, Mosaddek Hossain made a stunning fifty, pushing the side’s score past 250 runs.

Meanwhile, Liam Scott bagged the wickets of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed for 3 and 20 runs. Nathan Ellis bagged his third wicket, dismissing Tanvir Islam for 5 runs.

Mosaddek Hossain remained unbeaten, 86 runs off 70 deliveries, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes as Bangladesh scored 284 runs in their 50-over innings.

Nathan Ellis bagged three wickets, Liam Scott and Matt Renshaw bagged two wickets each, and Xavier completed his spell with a wicket tally.

Chasing the 285 run target, Matthew Short and Cooper Connolly opened the innings, while Taskin Ahmed opened the bowling attack.

Taskin Ahmed bagged the wicket of Matthew Short on the 1st ball of their innings. Mustafizur Rahman bagged the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne for 1 run, and Australia lost two wickets for two runs.

By the end of the power play, Australia scored 51 runs for two wickets. With Josh Inglis’s dismissal for 19 runs by Nahid Rana, Mosaddek Hossain bagged the wicket of Cooper Connolly for 35 runs.

However, Alex Carey made a solid knock of 47 runs before being dismissed by Nahid Rana.

With Cameron Green smashing a fifty, the lower-order batters lost their wicket of Bangladesh bowlers. Nahid Rana bagged his third and fourth wicket dismissing Liam Scott and Xavier Bartlett cheaply, and Mustafizur Rahman bagged the wicket of Nathan Ellis for 8 runs as Australia lost 9 wickets for 192 runs.

However, a rain interruption has led the game to be abandoned as per the DLS method. Bangladesh was way ahead of Australia by runs, and they secured an 86-run victory.

Bangladesh and Australia will play in the second ODI match on June 11 at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.
