Nashik Rural Police have detained nine individuals in connection with the alleged assault, molestation, and robbery of a tourist family at the Bhavali Dam waterfall in Igatpuri taluka of Maharashtra. A case has been registered under multiple serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including dacoity, attempt to murder, outraging the modesty of a woman, damage to property, unlawful assembly, and other relevant sections. The incident occurred on the evening of July 12 when a family from Nashik was visiting the scenic Bhavali Waterfall. According to the complaint, the family confronted a group of men allegedly harassing a woman member. The accused then chased the family’s vehicle for nearly 10-15 kilometres along the Mumbai-Agra National Highway, vandalising it with sticks and iron rods. Police said the attackers molested the women in the vehicle, assaulted other family members, and robbed them before fleeing.
