Amid the ongoing uncertainties in Gulf countries after the US-Israel attack on Iran, a total of 61 persons from Marathwada in Maharashtra are stranded in Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar and Abu Dhabi due to the closure of airspace. An official Divisional Commissionerate, while speaking about the situation, said, “The 61, who have intimated the administrations of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Nanded, Hingoli, Beed and Latur districts in Marathwada, are tourists, while some have gone to the Gulf for work and others possess resident visas,” as cited by news agency PTI.  Furthermore, he also informed, “Details of those from Dharashiv district (also part of Marathwada) are yet to arrive. In view of the ongoing developments in the Middle East, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has activated its Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR) to address grievances and queries raised by air travellers, an official statement said. The ministry said the Control Room is closely monitoring passenger concerns received through social media platforms, the AirSewa portal and dedicated helpline numbers. Complaints are being prioritised to ensure quick redressal. The statement said that 411 passenger grievances have been resolved so far during the current situation. The PACR is working in coordination with airlines and airport operators to provide timely assistance and minimise inconvenience to travellers. Helpline numbers issued by Indian embassies in affected countries have also been shared with passengers to help them coordinate directly with diplomatic missions where necessary. IndiGo on Thursday said it has initiated all the necessary refunds for flights cancelled during the recent operational disruption, adding that most amounts have already been credited to customers, with the remaining refunds set to reflect shortly. The airline said refunds for bookings made through travel partners have also been actioned, but passengers may need to write to [email protected] if their complete details are not available in IndiGo’s system. The airline acknowledged that a section of passengers travelling on December 3, 4, and 5 were stranded for several hours at various airports and that a number of them were “severely impacted” due to congestion. The airline announced it will offer travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to such passengers, which can be used for any future IndiGo journey over the next 12 months. Airbus on Friday said intense solar radiation might corrupt data critical to flight controls in a significant number of A320 family aircraft and that the software changes required to fix the issue would lead to operational disruptions. With many of the narrow-body A320 family planes of the domestic carriers set to undergo software changes or in some cases hardware realignment, there will be operational disruptions as the aircraft have to be grounded, the sources said. Indian operators have about 560 A320 family aircraft and 200-250 of them will need software changes or hardware realignment, they added. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said Airbus asked airline operators to install a serviceable Elevator Aileron Computer (ELAC) in the impacted aircraft.
