West Bengal Shiv Sena (UBT) leader quits party ahead of polls

In a jolt to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, senior state leader Susovan Ganguly on Monday quit the party just weeks before the polls. In his resignation (mid-day has a copy of it), Ganguly cited an alleged internal mismanagement and neglect of the state’s interests as key reasons for his decision. Ganguly said that he had remained loyal to the party during challenging times and had consistently worked to protect the interests of the Hindu community in West Bengal. Opposition to TMC and BJP  He highlighted his opposition to both the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) for alleged autocratic governance and to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for policies he described as “Gujarati-centric” and harmful to India’s global prestige. Criticism of party leadership Ganguly expressed disappointment with the national leadership of Shiv Sena (UBT), particularly All India General Secretary Anil Desai, claiming he seemed intent on dismantling the party across India. He stated that repeated requests for dedicated efforts to support West Bengal’s Hindu community were ignored. …

Not single govt`s but a collective effort in curbing Naxalism: Shiv Sena (UBT)

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday said that efforts to curb Naxalism in India cannot be attributed to a single government but it was a collective effort. Speaking to ANI, Chaturvedi accused the present regime of claiming sole credit for ending Naxalism and termed it “unfortunate.” “The action against Naxalism began during the UPA era, and now they are trying to take credit for its end. This cannot be the contribution of just one government. It is a continuous process. If someone tries to claim sole credit for it, that is unfortunate,” she said. Congress denies claims of shielding Naxalites in Chhattisgarh Earlier in the day, Congress leader Manickam Tagore rejected Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s charge that the Congress government in Chhattisgarh had “shielded Naxalites.” Tagore refuted the allegations, defending the Congress and stating that the party had lost several leaders in the fight against Naxalism. He asserted that the credit for combating Naxalism should go to security forces rather than political leaders. “We expected the Home Minister to speak in his …

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi slams Centre over West Asia crisis

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday strongly criticised the Centre’s handling of the ongoing West Asia crisis, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of adopting a “partisan” approach and responding too late to a rapidly escalating geopolitical situation, reported news agency ANI. Opposition questions delay in Prime Minister’s address Chaturvedi expressed concern over what she described as a delayed response from the Prime Minister, noting that his address to the Lok Sabha came weeks after tensions began escalating. She argued that an earlier intervention could have helped clarify India’s diplomatic stance, particularly regarding the Prime Minister’s visit to Israel and India’s response to developments in Iran, reported ANI. According to Chaturvedi, the government missed an opportunity to communicate transparently with citizens during the initial phase of the crisis, which has now intensified into a major international concern with economic and humanitarian implications. Allegations of ‘partisan’ approach in foreign policy The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader further alleged that the Centre appeared to be taking sides in the conflict rather than maintaining a balanced diplomatic posture. …

Sanjay Jadhav, a Member of Parliament, was leading a protest by farmers in Parbhani. Similar agitations were also organised in parts of Beed district.
