In April, the Union government had announced a simplified procedure for granting ownership rights to around 45 lakh residents of 1,511 unauthorised colonies in the city on an “as-is-where-is basis”, while removing the prerequisite of having an approved layout plan. The Delhi government’s Revenue department was made the nodal agency for the scheme and will set up PM-UDAY cells in all 13 districts, each headed by an Additional District Magistrate. The funds have been sought for three components — a technology-based land survey and mapping system, the setting up of district-level PM-UDAY cells, and a public awareness campaign, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office highlighted on Sunday. Invoking powers under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), headed by Deputy Commissioner Somashekar S.J., issued an order on Monday restricting public access to vulnerable areas during the monsoon as a public safety measure. The order, issued under Section 34(c) of the Act, empowers authorities to regulate and restrict entry into disaster-prone areas. It also cites relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. Under the restrictions, the public has been barred from entering rivers, streams, waterfalls, reservoirs, backwaters and other water bodies for bathing and swimming. In a major drive ahead of the annual Ashadhi Wari, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has removed 70 illegal hoardings along the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi routes to ensure a safe and obstruction-free passage for lakhs of Warkaris. The action follows directions issued in May by Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari and Additional Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi, who ordered a comprehensive survey of hoardings along the Palkhi route within PMRDA limits. According to PMRDA, officials surveyed around 123 hoardings across Haveli, Daund, and Purandar talukas. Following verification of permissions and legal compliance, 70 unauthorised structures were demolished by the authority’s encroachment department. The drive covered 32 hoardings on the Haveli–Solapur Road, 13 each in Daund and Purandar talukas, and 12 at Wadki. Several advertisers also voluntarily removed their unauthorised hoardings after receiving notices. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a nationwide crackdown on unauthorised e-catering operators allegedly offering food delivery services to railway passengers without approval, officials said. The move is aimed at protecting passengers from food safety risks, cyber fraud and financial losses linked to unauthorised websites and mobile applications that misuse IRCTC`s branding and services, an official statement said. IRCTC said it has initiated legal and criminal proceedings against several operators found to be offering unauthorised food delivery services on the Indian Railways network. According to IRCTC, a legal notice was first issued to non-compliant operators on 18 February 2026. This was followed by official criminal complaints filed on 16 March and 11 April 2026. The organisation stated that action has been initiated against several websites allegedly involved in unauthorised railway food delivery activities, including RailRestro, RailMitra, TravelKhana, TrainsCafe, DibRail, RailFood, ComeSum, TravelerFood, FoodOnTrack.in, eCatering.app, KhanaOnline, TrainWay, RailMeal and TrainMenu. As per the latest update from news agency ANI on Monday, the Delhi High Court has granted interim protection to the Telugu film actor against the unauthorised use of his name, image, voice, likeness and other personality attributes on pornographic websites, online merchandise platforms and YouTube channels.
