The accused have been identified as Nandkishore. Additional Superintendent of Police (South) Anshika Verma said a case was registered after the rape of a minor girl by an unknown person at a village under the Visharatganj police station limits on April 24 came to light. Police subsequently launched an investigation and arrested Nandkishore from Visharatganj-Atranchhedi road on Monday, the ASP said. The accused was produced before the court, which sent him to jail. Bahraich: A man was arrested for allegedly beheading his girlfriend when she asked him to marry her, police said on Sunday. “The case began after police found a headless body of a woman near Jagannathpur village on Friday. She was identified on Saturday as a 26-year-old woman, who was living with her parents after marriage,” Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari said. Investigations led to the arrest of Asif Raza alias Faizan (24), her lover and a local motorcycle mechanic, police said. During interrogation Faizan confessed that he killed his girlfriend because she kept pressuring him to marry her, Tiwari said. According to the officer the accused watched a Telugu movie ‘Salaar’, before executing the murder. Faizan lured her to a canal on March 6, beheaded her with a makeshift weapon, and hid the head separately, he said. “He was caught fleeing to Nepal on Sunday, with police recovering the head, weapon, and other evidence. Officials said the bodies of Karan (25) and Khushi (19), from Pandrawal village in Chhatari area, were found on the outskirts of the village. Dibai Circle Officer (CO) Shobhit Kumar said police reached the spot upon receiving information about the incident. The bodies of a man and a woman were hanging from a mango tree. Bhadohi: A 30-year-old blind woman died of burn injuries after she was allegedly pushed by her husband into a fire for dowry last month, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred in Sarai Mishrani village in Gopiganj area, where Sushma, sustained severe burns last month and died on Saturday, police sources said. Based on a complaint by her father, Ram Murat Gautam, an FIR was lodged against her husband, Raju Gautam, under sections 304B (dowry death), 498A (cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Sitapur: Two children drowned in a pond while attempting to catch a duck in a village here on Wednesday, police said. The victims were identified as Taimur (5) and his cousin, Arsh (5), police said. According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Devkalia village. A duck wandered to the bank. Upon seeing it, the children attempted to catch it and slipped into the pond with no one around to help them. Later, some villagers, returning from the fields, saw the children in the pond and alerted the police. The incident occurred on November 23 when the girl was on her way to meet her mother, police said. One of the accused stopped her midway and sexually assaulted her while his accomplice made of the incident, police said. They threatened to release it online if she informed anyone about the matter. The student has been identified as Kushagra Pratap Singh (24) of Varun Arjun Medical College. “He was a second-year MBBS student at the college. He is a resident of Gorakhpur. Today his body was found lying behind the hostel, after which the police were informed,” the college principal, Colonel (retired) Dr Ravindra Nath Shukla, told PTI. The student lived on the ground floor of the hostel which is a three-storey building. Prima facie it appears that either he fell on his own or someone pushed him, Superintendent of Police Rajesh S said.
