Maharashtra rain alert: IMD issues orange alert for thunderstorms in Vidarbha
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an orange alert for parts of Vidarbha, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds and isolated heavy rainfall over the next few days, with weather activity expected to intensify from July 2 onwards. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur, the southwest monsoon remains active and normal over Vidarbha, bringing fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall across the region. The IMD said favourable conditions continue for the monsoon to advance further into parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next two to three days. Meteorologists attributed the prevailing weather to multiple atmospheric systems, including upper air cyclonic circulations over northern Telangana, north Gujarat and central Chhattisgarh, along with several troughs extending across Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada.
