Thiruvallam police registered the case based on a complaint filed on Wednesday by the regional officer of the CBFC under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, officials said. The case has been registered against the producer, director, distributor, digital cinema content service providers and theatre owners who screened the film Mollywood Times, featuring actor Naslen, which was released on June 5. According to the FIR, the Central Board of Film Certification had issued a U/A 16+ certificate to the film after directing the makers to delete certain scenes and objectionable dialogues. The panel said fresh waste was not being scientifically processed and large heaps of old “legacy waste” were lying untreated at the site. It also found that waste processing capacity was much lower than the daily waste generated, leading to continuous piling up of garbage. India topped with the highest number of suspended track and field athletes for doping related violations in the latest list released by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). With a total of 148 suspended athletes, India surpassed Kenya (140). Russia is the third country in the list with 66 athletes suspended for doping until 1 April, 2026. Among the 148 suspended Indian athletes are 100m women’s national record holder Dutee Chand, NCAA star Parvej Khan among others. According to officials, a total of 68 inspections were carried out under the State-wide meat drive. During these checks, 33 samples were collected for analysis and 56 notices were issued to food business operators for various violations. Authorities seized approximately 146 kg of spoiled or non-compliant meat, with the largest single seizure of 110 kg reported from Nalgonda district. Officials noted several lapses in food safety practices, including unhygienic conditions in cold storage equipment and the failure to implement standard inventory systems such as First-In, First-Out and First-Expired, First-Out. Improvement notices were issued under the Food Safety and Standards Act for violations related to hygiene. According to BMC officials, the developer, Embassy Developments Limited, continued construction activity even after being served a stop-work notice in January 2026. The proposal introduces a structured penalty mechanism under Section 13, backed by a newly inserted Third Schedule. Titled The Capital of Punjab (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the proposal seeks to address long-standing concerns over unauthorised construction, misuse of residential and commercial properties, and weak enforcement mechanisms. Penalties will be graded based on the nature of violations and type of property, ranging from Rs 3 to Rs 10 per sq ft per day. The total penalty will be capped at 20 per cent of the property value assessed at prevailing collector rates, except in cases related to Sections 11 (trees) and 12 (advertisements). Violators will be required to pay penalties within 30 days, failing which interest at 1 per cent per month will be levied. The administration will also have the power to recover dues …
