Bambukat 2 collected Rs. 80-85 lakh (Rs. 65-70 lakh nett) approx on its second day at the Indian box office, which brings its 2-day total to Rs. 1.40 crore (Rs. 1.15 crore nett) approx. There was a 40 per cent growth in business, which is good, but the business remains at low levels. Punjabi film Bambukat 2 had a dismal opening at the Indian box office, collecting Rs. 55 lakh gross (Rs. 45 lakh nett) approx on its first day. Overseas was a slightly better, where it earned USD 200K (Rs. 1.85 crore) approx, giving it a worldwide first day number of nearly Rs. 2.50 crore. Starring Ammy Virk and Binoo Dhillon, Bambukat 2 is the sequel to the 2016 blockbuster, Bambukat. The original film had a bumper opening of Rs. 1.60 crore (Rs. 1.48 crore nett) in India, registering the fourth biggest opening ever for a Punjabi film at the time. Major (retd) Rajinder Singh Lally Virk, 57, has been elected President of the Chandigarh Golf Club, defeating Capt Mohanbir Singh (Bunny), 62, in the club’s annual elections held on Sunday. The closely watched contest between the two Army veterans saw Virk secure a decisive 775 votes against Bunny’s 471. Of the 1,254 votes polled, 1,246 were valid, with eight declared invalid. With nearly 1,800 eligible voters, the turnout was significant and marked a return to competitive elections after a phase of largely unanimous selections. While Capt Mohanbir Singh was contesting for the top post for the first time, Virk, a veteran of the 15 Guards regiment and former Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Tripura, had faced electoral setbacks earlier. He had unsuccessfully contested twice before. In the 2022 elections, Col Bobby Chahal won by a 97-vote margin, polling 505 votes to Virk’s 408 out of 1,154 votes cast.
