OTT Releases This Week: Vijay 69, Devara, Citadel: Honey Bunny and More

The most anticipated release this week is Varun Dhawan and Samantha Prabhu’s Citadel: Honey Bunny – the Indian leg of the international spy universe franchise. The high-octane drama gives plenty of action sequences, thrill and chases. The next big release is Anupam Kher’s inspiring drama Vijay 69 on Netflix, which deals with the often-overlooked challenges of the elderly. We see Kher preparing for a challenging triathlon here. Amongst the post-theatrical releases, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s critically acclaimed thriller The Buckingham Murders and Jr. NTR’s action flick Devara Part 1 are the main headliners. Both films are now available to stream on Netflix. While the international front is quiet this week, early Christmas vibes come with Christina Milian’s rom-com Meet Me Next Christmas, where she rushes through the town to meet a dashing guy whom she met earlier at an airport lounge in a concert. Top Ott Releases This Week: Atlas, Crew, The Kardashians Season 5 and More

While last week was big on ott releases in the form of Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1 dropping in, the pool seems a bit shallow this time, making the perfect room for the third season of TVF’s highly anticipated series Panchayat, which follows the story of the newly elected Panchayat secretary of a remote village. With the second season’s cliffhanger of a finale, the excitement among the followers of the series is broiling up each day. Except for Jennifer Lopez’s sci-fi Atlas on Netflix, there doesn’t seem to be any major originals hitting the screens. The film revolves around AI terrorism and relies on Lopez’s character to save the world.Another notable release is the fifth season of The Kardashians, which follows the dramatic lives of internet celebrities Kris, Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner. Top OTT Releases This Week: Murder in Mahim, Doctor Who Season 14, and More

This week’s OTT releases have thriller elements at the very core. Whether it is JioCinema’s crime mystery Murder in Mahim – based on the plight of homosexuals in India – or Apple TV’s sci-fi series Dark Matter, you’ll be glued to your screens in anticipation of what follows next. The former carefully dissects the homophobia-ridden social fabric of our society, and the latter delves deep into the endless possibilities of how our lives could have turned out. Hotstars’ Doctor Who Season 14 serves wit, humour, suspense, and mystery. With decades of material to compare with, this nascent instalment has a lot to prove. Another big pick is SonyLiv’s Undekhi, returning for a third season. It explores the dark underbelly of being drunk on wealth and power, with an influential family at focus. The first two seasons were quite a hit amongst the audience, making this revival much anticipated. If you are looking for something in non-fiction, you can go for Netflix’s newest true crime documentary, Cooking Up Murder: Uncovering the Story of César Román, which …

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Parasyte: The Grey, and Others on Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar and Sony Liv

Sadly, there are no major Indian originals for this week. Sony Liv’s middle-class family drama Family Aaj Kal seems to be the only option for those looking for Indian titles. It is set in a typical middle-class family where the daughter falling in love with a cab driver sets the family in panic mode. On the other hand, plenty of international titles are hitting the screens this week, including K-drama Parasytes: The Grey, Scoop, and How to Date Billy Walsh. In Parasytes, you’ll see extraterrestrial creatures sucking off life from humans to increase their power. Scoop will take you back to BBC’s infamous interview in 2019 with Prince Andrews, in which he was questioned about his relationship with a sex offender. Prime Video’s How To Date Billy Walsh will do the tricks if you are in the mood for something with high-school romance. For young ones, Hotstar is dishing out the animated musical comedy Wish, in which a young girl wishes on a star, unaware of what’s in store. Many post-theatrical OTT releases are lined …
