She was produced before the district court here and was sent to the Central Jail in Nellore on Thursday (July 30, 2026) night. The arrest, made in Bengaluru, follows the seizure of 70 grams of synthetic drugs worth about ₹4 lakh near Varigapalle on the outskirts of Chittoor two weeks ago. Two young men, from Vijayawada and Machilipatnam, were caught with the drugs near the APSRTC bus stand. The questioning of the two revealed the role of a Ugandan national, leading to a search for her. Acting on call records and a money trail, a police team raided a rented apartment in Bengaluru and arrested her, a police official said. The Kozhikode City police on Thursday arrested a 32-year-old woman after recovering 56 grams of hashish oil from her during a surprise inspection at the Government Medical College Hospital here. The accused, identified as Aswathi from Wayanad who is currently residing in Kasaragod, had reportedly come to the hospital as a bystander for a patient admitted to the maternity ward. According to the police, the contraband was concealed in two small plastic bottles. Hospital staff and caregivers in the ward reportedly became suspicious of the woman’s behaviour and alerted the police, leading to the inspection and seizure. Police officials attached to the Kozhikode Medical College station said the woman was attempting to smuggle the cannabis extract to her husband, who is lodged in the Kozhikode district jail. Investigators found that she intended to pass the substance to other inmates who were brought to the Medical College Hospital, from where it could eventually reach the prison. Two men have been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as per the police officials. According to the woman’s complaint, she, along with a male friend, had gone for an outing to Jalsheeri Drangbal in Baramulla on July 25 when the two accused accosted them, as reported by IANS.  Jammu and Kashmir police identified the accused using technical evidences  A police official, while briefing about the case, said that the accused sexually assaulted the girl and also recorded a video of the assault.
