‘How can anyone hate him’

‘How can anyone hate him’

4 min readJun 23, 2026 02:49 PM IST Former India spinner R Ashwin has questioned the criticism directed at Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following the teenager’s involvement in a physical altercation with Sri Lanka A players during the recently concluded tri-series in Dambulla. Ashwin argued that there was a difference between constructive criticism and hatred, while urging people not to rush to judge the 15-year-old. Sooryavanshi was involved in an altercation that turned physical following India A’s Super Over defeat to Sri Lanka A last week. “All we can do is talk with hate. And what happens then? If the person we are hating eventually reads those things, it might affect them a little. But what do we achieve by talking like that? That is why I am saying this. How can you hate Vaibhav Sooryavanshi?”  Ashwin said on Ash Ki Baat. 2 min readMay 30, 2026 04:51 PM IST Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has had a season to remember in the IPL 2026. For the Rajasthan Royals this season, the teenager churned out 776 runs at an average of 48.50 at a blistering strike rate of 237.30. On many occasions during the season, he was the lone batter standing for the Royals. In qualifier 2, too, he played an incredible innings of 96 runs from just 47 deliveries. His heroics were not enough for Rajasthan to win the game, though he earned the appreciation of former Indian off-spinner R Ashwin. “I’m actually disappointed. He played a lot of good knocks in this IPL and scored almost 800 runs, but the high point for me was his innings today,” said Ashwin on his YouTube channel. Ashwin lauded Sooryavanshi’s ability to handle Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Jason Holder, who are experienced Test match bowlers accustomed to bowling at tough lengths and exploiting the conditions. “Yes, he definitely had luck, but the wicket was helping the bowlers, and the bowlers …

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks sixes world record, becomes to fastest to hit 100 T20 maximums

2 min readMay 10, 2026 10:41 AM IST Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s early dismissal may have cost Rajasthan Royals during a crushing 77-run defeat to the Gujarat Titans in a 230-run chase on Saturday night in Jaipur. However, the dashing left-hander’s quickfire start had briefly threatened Gujarat early in the Powerplay. The 15-year-old broke yet another world record as he smashed Mohammed Siraj for a six to kick-start his innings. Sooryavanshi flayed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada across the first two overs, cracking three sixes and two fours before being dismissed by a sharp bouncer. Sooryavanshi, however, walked away with two staggering world records within only 29 appearances since his professional debut in the format last year. Sooryavanshi became the first teenager to smash 100 sixes with his first maximum of the innings against Siraj. Moreover, the Bihar prodigy also became the fastest-ever to reach the landmark, smashing the previous records by a staggering margin. Sooryavanshi blasted his 100th six off only his 515th delivery in T20 cricket, surpassing the previous best of Karanbir Singh who got to …

Michael Clarke compares Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hype to Sachin Tendulkar: ‘Haven’t seen this before’

3 min readMay 7, 2026 01:59 PM IST “Well, I haven’t seen this before. I haven’t seen a 15-year-old doing this.” Former Australia captain Michael Clarke perhaps summed up the disbelief around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi better than most after the teenager’s extraordinary rise in IPL 2026. Speaking on Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke compared the scale of the hype around the 15-year-old to the early days of Sachin Tendulkar, while also cautioning against rushing expectations around the youngster’s future in Test cricket. “You know, I think back, and again, you can’t compare. Two very different players. But I remember Sachin Tendulkar coming to Australia as a 17-year-old and, mate, that hype was real. I think he was 16. Was 16. And that hype was earned. That legacy is there for everyone to see,” the 45-year-old said. Sooryavanshi has become one of the biggest talking points of the IPL season, with his fearless strokeplay and composure drawing attention far beyond India. He has made 404 runs in 10 matches for RR in IPL 2026 at a strike rate …
