About Josh
Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan played the roles of siblings in Mansoor Khan’s romantic musical film Josh. Although the film was somewhat successful, the unconventional decision to cast leading romantic stars as brother and sister created controversy. Recently, producer Ratan Jain revealed an interesting detail about the film.
Shah Rukh Khan’s role was almost done by…
Did you know that the role of Aishwarya Rai’s brother Max in Josh was not initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan? In fact, it was supposed to be played by another superstar. And interestingly, the star was someone Aishwarya had been in a relationship with.
Aamir Khan was supposed to be…
In a latest interview with TV9, Ratan Jain revealed that initially, the 2000 film was supposed to cast another Khan instead of Chandrachur Singh. The movie was supposed to have Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. But eventually, Shah Rukh and Chandrachur Singh ended up as the cast.
Shah Rukh had initially refused to do Josh
After that, the makers arranged a joint narration. On that day, the director, producer, Shah Rukh, and Aamir all arrived at the venue. Recalling the incident, Ratan said, “Before the narration began, Mansoor said that Aamir wanted to play Max’s role. Shah Rukh wore his shoes and left.”
The actor was none other than…
He then revealed that eventually, both the actors ended up being unavailable. Due to this, the film was put on hold. However, then the role got offered to none other than Salman Khan, who agreed to do it.
All’s well that ends well
Ratan said, “Salman agreed. We contacted Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, and Chandrachur Singh, but the director wanted Chandrachur Singh.” However, Salman later signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, so Ratan reached out to Shah Rukh again, and he agreed.
Shah Rukh Khan agreed
He said, “I went back to Shah Rukh and told him what had happened and that Salman didn’t seem like he wanted to do it.” Shah Rukh asked for some time to think, and Ratan told him, “Now you’ll have to do it; it’s a matter of my respect.” The next day, Shah Rukh called and confirmed, “I’m doing it.”
