Three people were killed in a road accident on Monday (April 21, 2025) when an SUV hit a motorcycle carrying them near East Ramapuram on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam National Highway.

The police identified the deceased as P. Nehru, 55, of M. Pudur village, and B. Kalpana, 30, and P. Saranya, 30, of Naginatham village.

The police said Nehru and the two women were triple riding, and were headed for work at the former’s cashew orchard at M. Pudur. When they apporached East Ramapuram, a speeding SUV hit them from behind. In the impact, all three were thrown off the bike.

While Kalpana and Saranya died on the spot, Nehru died en route to the Cuddalore Government General Hospital. A case has been registered.
