According to sources, Varun has come on board as the lead, with the project set to be directed by Abhay Pannu and backed by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani. The film will also mark Pannu’s theatrical directorial debut. He is best known for helming the critically acclaimed SonyLIV series Rocket Boys.
The untitled project marks Varun’s second collaboration with Yash Raj Films after 2018’s Sui Dhaaga: Made in India. While the makers are keeping plot details tightly under wraps, the film is expected to kick off a new chapter for the studio as it ventures into horror for the first time.
On the work front, Varun was last seen in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. He also featured in the war drama Border 2 earlier this year. Now, the actor has Bhediya 2 in the pipeline, which is slated for a 2027 release.
