Just when you thought the rumour mill had run its course for the week, along comes another pairing to set tongues wagging. Varun Sood and Sonia Rathee, two names that have been steadily climbing the industry ladder in their own right, are now being linked romantically and if insider accounts are anything to go by, this one might have some real substance behind it.

A source close to the duo tells us, “Varun and Sonia have been playing paddle ball with their close friends Angad Bedi, Neha Dhupia and Harman Singha. The two look absolutely head over heels for each other.”

The timing tracks with where both actors currently stand professionally. Varun, who made the leap from reality television to scripted acting, has kept busy with his recent work on Call Me Bae and Karmma Calling, projects that have helped him shed the “reality star” tag and establish himself as a serious performer. Sonia, meanwhile, has been riding the wave of Kapkapiii, her genre-bending horror-comedy outing that showcased a different side of her range, with the bilingual Bhai Bhai reportedly next on her slate.

With both actors enjoying career highs, it’s perhaps no surprise they’re choosing to keep their personal lives under wraps for now. Whether this is the real deal or just good old-fashioned friend-group speculation remains to be seen.
