A recent Mollywood horror thriller that earned more than Rs 80 crore at the box office is now available for streaming on OTT. The film is Dies Irae and features Pranav Mohanlal, son of Mohanlal, in the main role. The film is directed by Rahul Sadasivan.
Industry tracker Sacnilk indicates that Dies Irae has garnered an estimated Rs 82 crore globally, showcasing robust box-office performance. The film’s net earnings in India are Rs 40.88 crore, with approximately Rs 33 crore coming from international markets. Consistent daily performance in Kerala and the GCC regions has enhanced the film’s total revenue. Launched worldwide on October 31, 2025, to align with Halloween, Dies Irae received mainly favorable reviews. The film’s performances, direction by Rahul Sadasivan, impressive cinematography, haunting score, impactful horror aspects, concise screenplay, and fast pace received acclaim from critics.
Thanks to its remarkable success, Dies Irae has secured its place as the fourth highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025 and now holds the 21st position among the highest-grossing Malayalam films ever.
Dies Irae scheduled for its OTT release
The visually captivating horror thriller, recognized for its eerie ambiance and excellent technical skill, will start streaming on JioHotstar on December 5, 2025. The horror thriller, written and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, was created by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth through Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios.
Directed by Pranav Mohanlal, the movie expands the story universe created in Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam, representing another addition to Sadasivan’s expanding horror repertoire. The project was announced in March 2025 with the working title NSS2, signifying the second venture from Night Shift Studios. Its official title was unveiled two months later. Filming was carried out between March and April 2025, with the technical team comprising composer Christo Xavier, cinematographer Shehnad Jalal, and editor Shafique Mohammed Ali, all contributing to the film’s distinct creative vision.
