Ranbir Kapoor’s peak in Rockstar was during the Nadaan Parinde song. Director Imtiaz Ali praised him by bowing down in front of him.
Ranbir Kapoor played Jordan in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar.
Ranbir Kapoor’s peak acting moment was when he, as Jordan, felt the presence of his long lost ladylove Heer Kaulong-lost (Nargis Fakhri) in the middle of the Nadaan Parinde song at his open concert and zones out. The scene that continues to haunt everyone even today must have been a challenge to shoot. Recently, an old video from Rockstar sets has emerged, which shows director Imtiaz Ali, impressed by RK’s performance, bowing down in front of him after he got the perfect shot.
Ranbir Kapoor was dressed as Jordan in the said clip. After the Nadaan Parinde shoot, Imtiaz walked up to the superstar and bowed down in front of him and apparently also touched his feet. Ranbir, too, followed. The director and acto hugged each other, admiring the masterpiece that they have just created. The film then walked the concert ramp with the actor and give him a final shout-out in front of the crew before calling it a wrap. Watch the video here:
Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rockstar has always been hailed for its terrific music and storyline. The film earned close to Rs 62 crore when it first released in 2011. The film was re-released in 2024 and witnessed a newfound success at the box office. It is said to have amassed a sum of Rs 10-12 crore this time, marking its growing popularity and cult status.
Imtiaz Ali spoke about how Rockstar was made on Mid-day’s Sit With Hitlist series. The filmmaker shared an old incident and how Rockstar was made. He said, “Ranbir Kapoor has a lot of friends who are in the film industry. Many years back was making this film, ‘Rockstar’ and it didn’t get made, but there was talk about it and there was the story must have gone around. I was back to making Rockstar’. I approached Ranbir for it. I met him at a screening. I hadn’t seen ‘Saawariya’ (2007). Deepika (Padukone) had told him everything about me. Because she was in (Love Aaj Kal).”
He continued “We decided to meet. I went and told him the script that I came to narrate to him, which was some other script. And then he said, ‘Sir, aap ki woh wali, I’ve heard that you had a film.’ So, I was like, ‘How do you know?’ He said, ‘This guy who says that I want to become a musician, but I don’t have any tragedy in my life. That’s your film, right?’ So I said, ‘Yeah’. And then he started to tell me the story. I said, ‘Okay, what else did you hear?”
Ranbir was telling me only the story. And I was looking at this guy. Like, this is the guy for this film. Then I said, ‘Oh, so you want to make this film?’ He says, ‘Yeah, sir, let’s make this’. I said, ‘Okay fine. Give me some time. I’ll see where the script is and write it. And then I’ll bring it to you.’ I’d lost the script. So I had to write it again. I rewrote it from memory,” added Imtiaz Ali.
