Miley Cyrus sparked major controversy at this year’s Grammys after reportedly snubbing Lady Gaga. At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga won two golden gramophones, but not everyone seemed happy for her.
When Gaga took the stage to accept her second award, the audience gave her a standing ovation. However, when the camera showed Miley Cyrus, who was also nominated in the same category, she remained seated and didn’t clap, sparking a wave of reactions online.
Did Miley Cyrus Snub Lady Gaga?
The situation is reportedly more complex than it seemed. According to several fans on X, Miley Cyrus’ alleged issue isn’t with Lady Gaga herself but with Gaga’s producer, Andrew Watt, who previously worked with Cyrus on her 2020 album Plastic Hearts.
One fan wrote, “They said it was not pointed at Gaga but at that Andrew producer guy,” referring to fan theories online. Another added, “Not about Gaga.”
Despite not clapping for Gaga initially, Cyrus was seen applauding for Gaga after the speech. Fans also took to social media to defend Cyrus’ actions.
What Happened Between Miley Cyrus And Andrew Watt?
Andrew Watt collaborated with Miley Cyrus on her 2020 album, Plastic Hearts. Although it is unclear what went down between them, fans have speculated that the two had a falling out of some sort.
“Miley shading Andrew Watt, not Gaga – I’m actually obsessed by it,” one X user declared. Another stated, “Miley was never going to stand up when Watt was on the stage; it had nothing to do with Gaga. Please learn your history before speaking on her.”
When Cyrus and Watt worked together, the producer gushed over her work ethic during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “She’s another artist who, without a doubt, always knows what she wants to do. You’re on Miley’s ride when you’re there. And she connects to her lyrics so hard,” he said at that time.
Meanwhile, Cyrus has never shared anything explicitly against Andrew. However, during a June 2025 episode of Sorry We’re Cyrus, hosted by Miley’s mom, Tish, and older sister Brandi, the Flowers singer dropped a hint at a possible fallout.
When Cyrus was asked if there was a song of hers that she regretted writing, Miley said, “Uh, yeah. Do I say it? Half of Plastic Hearts, honestly.” She added, “Trauma response! Trauma response.” Cyrus is yet to publicly address the possible feud with Watt.
