Haq vs Jatadhara box office collection day 1: Suparn Varma’s latest release, Haq, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, finally hit the big screens yesterday, November 7. Even though the much-anticipated courtroom drama got good reviews, it had a decent opening at the box office. The film is expected to pick up speed in its earnings over the weekend. On the other hand, the Sonakshi Sinha starrer Jatadhara was also released yesterday and had a pretty slow opening. The movie was released in Hindi and Telugu and has received mixed reviews from the audience as well as the critics. According to various critiques, the horror film, written and directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, might find its audience; however, the mass appeal of the film seems unlikely.

As per early reports by Sacnilk, Haq opened with Rs. 1.65 crores on the first day, making for a decent earning. The film had a Hindi occupancy rate of 9.97%. Since Haq is made on a small budget, the film can prove to be financially profitable if it manages to get the earnings up by the weekend.
On the other hand, Jatadhara opened with earnings of Rs. 90 lakhs on the opening day, marking a slow start for the film, as reported by Sacnilk. However, the film had a decent Telugu occupancy of 17.24% on the day.

Produced by Junglee Pictures, Haq tells the story of Shah Bano Begum, the woman who fought the historical landmark case, Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum, against her husband, Mohammed Ahmad Khan. The film covers a very sensitive topic, and it is lauded for Yami Gautam’s performance as Shah Bano Begum.
Jatadhara stars Sudheer Babu, Sonakshi Sinha, Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishnan, Ravi Prakash, Rajeev Kanakala, and Subhalekha Sudhakar in important roles. The film portrays the collision of age-old rituals and beliefs with modern rationality, as the protagonist of the film gets drawn in by an age-old curse protecting a guardian spirit called Dhanapisachi.
