It has been over 30 years since Aamir Khan made his Bollywood debut with the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak opposite Juhi Chawla. Directed by Mansoor Khan, the film was a big hit, cementing Aamir Khan’s position as an emerging star. It tells the story of two young lovers, Raj (Aamir Khan) and Rashmi (Juhi Chawla), who elope to set up their own paradise, considering their families were bitter rivals. It won’t be wrong to say that Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak turned out to become a launch pad for both the actors who were newcomers at the time. Despite the film being counted among his best works, Aamir Khan revealed that he did not like his performance in some parts.
The actor, who recently attended his son Junaid Khan’s trailer launch event for Loveyapa, opened up about his own debut film and mentioned scenes where he didn’t like his performance. Admitting that he wasn’t entirely convinced with his work in QSQT, Aamir Khan explained that he looked “raw and awkward” on the screen.
“I felt like my work was not very fine-tuned in some places. Some scenes I did well and also the song moments like Papa Kehte Hai were done well. But there are still a few moments that irritate me as an actor. I didn’t enjoy them,” he said. Despite sharing a certain dislike towards his own performance, Aamir did not refrain from praising his co-star Juhi Chawla’s part and even parallel with his work. “She did a good job and was polished as an actor with a command over her dialogue delivery and expression. It looked very clean on-screen whereas I used to speak very fast,” Aamir continued.
Elsewhere in the conversation, the Dangal actor expressed his gratitude for his debut film becoming a hit. He even admitted learning from his mistakes that made him evolve as an actor.
