Amid the growing tensions between India and Pakistan, Aamir Khan has opened up about the Pahalgam attack at a media event. The Bollywood superstar said that India needs assurance against such attacks in future. He also lauded the Indian Government.
After the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 innocent tourists, India launched Operation Sindoor, a strategic military strike aimed at dismantling nine terrorist hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In response, Pakistan launched a barrage of artillery fire, drone, and missile attacks on multiple locations in India. They even violated the ceasefire.
Aamir Khan addressed the tragic Pahalgam attack during an ABP event on Tuesday. Now, a clip of his emotional statement from the event is making waves online. He said, “We need justice and assurance that it [terrorist attacks] won’t happen again. We believe in our government, they’ll take actions against the anti-social elements who committed this and bring them to justice.”
Aamir Khan had also announced the postponement of the trailer launch for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par in light of the current situation. It was initially scheduled for May 8.
About Operation Sindoor
In a coordinated counter-terror move, Indian armed forces carried out a high-level operation, dismantling multiple terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor,’ the mission was a joint effort by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and was launched entirely from within Indian territory.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that nine terror sites were successfully targeted, reiterating that the strikes were carefully calibrated to avoid escalating tensions. “Focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” was how officials described the operation, noting that no Pakistani military installations were hit. The primary objective was to neutralise the networks responsible for recent attacks on Indian soil.
The Indian Army later confirmed the action with a post from its official handle stating, “Justice is served. Jai Hind.” Prominent political leaders, including Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, commended the military response, calling it a fitting tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
On Saturday, April 10, India and Pakistan agreed to immediate ceasefire. “The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan called the DGMO of India at 15.30 hours (3.30 pm) this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would cease all firing and military action on land, in the air, and at sea with effect from 1700 hours (5 pm),” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.
However, Pakistan violated the ceasefire as drones and explosions were heard in Srinagar.
