The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, which began with the chanting of “Jai Shri Ram” by ruling BJP members and its allies, all draped in similar saffron stoles with “Ram” written over it, witnessed an uproar in the House as Samajwadi Party (SP) members, wearing red stole and red caps along with banners and posters raised slogans during the almost one-hour long address of Governor Anandi Ben Patel, asking her to “Go back”.
Midway into her address to the joint session of the Legislature, UP Governor Patel was interrupted by SP members, who staged a protest in the House.

“Kaun chala jayega, yeh to baad mein pata chalega. main to jane wali nahi,” (who would leave… will come to know of it later, at least I’m not leaving), the Governor told the opposition members sloganeering in the House.

While the Governor’s reaction attracted support from the treasury benches, with thumping of desks along with chants of “Jai Sri Ram”, the Opposition members intensified their sloganeering shouting, “Jhootha bhashan band karo” (stop false speech), “Radhe Radhe”, “Jai Samajwad”, “Jai Bhim” as well as “Inqualab Jindabad”, “Dalit Virodhi yeh sarkar nahi chalegi”, “PDA hi NDA ko harayega” and also demanding caste-based census amidst constant slogans of “Rajyapal Wapas Jao” (Governor go back).

In the midst of the protest staged by the SP legislators, the UP Governor read her speech, which lasted for a little over 56 minutes.

Addressing the protestors shouting “Saat Saal Pehle Uttar Pradesh ek Bimaru Rajya tha, aj dekh lo”, (seven years ago UP was a sick state, look at it today) Patel underlined how UP has

developed across different segments and successfully implemented schemes and attained the top position in “influx of tourists”.
Later in the day, outside the Assembly, Leader of Opposition and SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav referred to the Governor’s address as a “mere government document without any truth”.

“UP mein ease of doing business nahi, Ease of doing crime hai. Mahilayen betiyan sabse Jayda ashurakshit hain…. Zero  tolerance ka rana dene wale, Kanoon vyavastha mein zero hain. (There is no ease of doing business in UP, there is ease of doing crime. Women and daughters are the most unsafe…. Those who give the example of zero tolerance, there is zero in the law system.),” he said.

Akhilesh said that Government is instead number one in one thing i.e. “Sachai mein PDA (Pichra, Dalit, Alpasankhyak) ke haq ko cheene mein ek hain” (In taking away the right of backward, Dalit and Minority) and claimed, “PDA hi NDA ko harayega”.

The SP chief also said that the BJP has failed to meet the promises made by them and even farmers are unhappy.
