FIDE Chess Candidates 2024 Round 13 Live Updates: India’s D Gukesh is taking on Alireza Firouzja in the penultimate game of the FIDE Candidates chess tournament 2024 in Toronto. The 17-year-old is among the three-man leading pack after 12 rounds at the prestigious chess tournament.
With two rounds left, the teenager from Chennai is on the cusp of becoming the youngest ever World Chess Championship contender. He’s currently joined at the top of the standings by Russia’s Ian Nepomniachtchi and USA’s Hikaru Nakamura, with 7.5 points after 12 games.
Nepomniachtchi and Nakamura are facing each other today.
The two other Indians in the fray — Praggnanandhaa and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi — are also in action with 18-year-old Pragg facing Fabiano Caruana while Vidit is playing against Abasov.
In the women’s event, Humpy Koneru is facing Anna Muzychuk while Vaishali Rameshbabu is up against Lei Tingjie.
