A suspected Chinese national was arrested on Friday after attempting to enter India without valid visa and passport documents. As per the officials, the woman was caught entering into the country via the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district.
The incident occurred around 1 pm on Friday when the woman was spotted entering India through a footpath in Bairia Bazaar, located in the Nautanwa area near the India-Nepal border. She was stopped by security personnel during a routine check.
Following this, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel detained her upon discovering she lacked the necessary travel documents, a senior official reported.
She was subsequently handed over to the police and arrested. Station House Officer (SHO) of Nautanwa, Purushottam Rao, confirmed that the woman has been identified as Huajia Jie of China, based on a slip found with her.
“Investigations are underway to determine her city of origin and the purpose of her visit to India. Due to language barriers, no specific information has been collected yet,” the SHO was quoted as saying by PTI.
