Chinmayi Sripada slams Sivaji for comments about women’s clothing; calls him ‘hero’ of incel boys: ‘Unbelievable how women are treated’ | Telugu News

Singer Chinmayi Sripada has never shied away from speaking her mind, especially if the conversation is around women’s rights. Recently she called out actor Sivaji for making inappropriate and distasteful comments about what women should wear. While complimenting a co-star on her choice to wear a saree, the actor went on a whole rant about the type of clothes women should wear. This did not sit right with a lot of people on social media, including Chinmayi.

What Sivaji said about women’s attire

During a promotional event for his upcoming film Dhandora, Sivaji appreciated the anchor Sravanthi Chokkarapu for wearing a saree and said, “I request all heroines not to wear revealing outfits. Please wear sarees or dresses that cover the body fully. Beauty lies in complete attire or a saree, not in displaying physical assets.” He even used certain slurs and inappropriate words that are used to describe women, something which Chinmayi pointed out in her post.

How Chinmayi reacted

She wrote, “Telugu actor Sivaji doles out unnecessary advice to actresses using slurs like (slur), saying they need to wear saris to cover their (slur)—a word incels use. Actor Sivaji played a villain in a fantastic film and ended up becoming the hero for incel boys. He himself wears jeans and a hoodie. He should wear only dhotis and follow Indian culture. Wear bottu (bindi), and if he is married, wear the Kankanam (bracelet) and Mettelu (toe rings) to signify he is married. It’s unbelievable how women are treated here. Just unbelievable.”

Apart from the aforementioned comments, Sivaji also said, “People may not openly say anything because they feel it is your freedom, but inside they may not like it. They feel like saying, ‘You wretched woman! Why are you wearing such awful clothes? Couldn’t you wear some decent clothes instead?’ A woman is like nature. When nature is beautiful, we respect it. A woman is like my mother, whom I hold close to my heart. Freedom is precious – don’t lose it. People will respect you based on your conduct. Glamour should have limits; it should not cross a certain line.”
