Govinda’s Son Yashvardhan Ahuja to Headline a Horror-comedy

Turns out things didn’t go quite the way the rumour mill predicted. Back in 2024, word was that Yashvardhan Ahuja, Govinda’s son, would step into Bollywood via a love story helmed by National Award-winning Tollywood director Sai Rajesh. It was supposed to be a remake of the Telugu hit Baby. Instead, his real debut is shaping up very differently.

Romance, horror & comedy

Yashvardhan will lead Hero Ki Horrorine, a horror-comedy directed by Sajid Khan, marking Khan’s return to films after a 12-year gap. He will romance Nitanshi Goel, fresh off her Laapataa Ladies success, as the female lead. The cast is stacked too: Sunita Ahuja (his real-life mom, now playing his onscreen one), Jamie Lever, Chunky Pandey, Brijendra Kala, and Simrat Kaur Randhawa all round out the ensemble. Backing the project are Ektaa R. Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, alongside Amar Butala. Given Ektaa’s recent hit with Bhooth Bangla, the horror-comedy genre clearly seems to be working for her.

Hero Ki Horrorine is scheduled to hit theatres on January 7, 2027. The film is expected to be a full-blown comic horror launch.

Following Ranbir Kapoor’s advice

For Yashvardhan, the launch comes after many years of preparation. In an interview with Times Of India in 2025, the youngster mentioned that it was important for him to stay outside of Bollywood for some time to discover himself. He revealed that Ranbir Kapoor convinced him to go abroad and learn the art of filmmaking. “He told me it’s important to live outside the Bollywood bubble and helped me discover my own likes and dislikes, my identity, choices and in a way, my own voice,” he added. The youngster admires his father’s comic timing and spontaneity. We’re all eager to watch him in Hero Ki Horrorine, what about you?
