From period drama and bold anthology storytelling to returning to familiar worlds, the actor has a packed slate that could showcase a whole new range of Gurfateh Pirzada.
The months ahead look less like a conventional release calendar and more like a showcase of the many shades he can bring to screen. With four projects lined up across September and December, the actor is stepping into stories that are strikingly different in tone, setting and scale.
The Revolutionaries
First up is The Revolutionaries, the period drama set in the aftermath of the 1857 Indian Rebellion and centred on young idealists fighting for justice, liberty and freedom. The Prime Video series places Gurfateh in a world far removed from the contemporary characters audiences have seen him play so far, giving him an opportunity to explore a more dramatic, historically rooted space.
Lust Stories 3
Then comes Lust Stories 3, where Gurfateh features in filmmaker Kiran Rao’s segment alongside newcomer Sana Thampi. The third instalment of Netflix’s acclaimed anthology brings together Rao, Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj, with each filmmaker exploring love, desire, power and relationships through their own distinct lens.
Call Me Bae 2
December brings a return to a character audiences already know. Call Me Bae 2 sees Gurfateh reprise his role as Neel Nair, as Bae’s professional life takes off while her personal world gets increasingly complicated. The new season promises more ambition, romance, rivalry and chaos.
Adhure Hum Adhure Tum

Taken together, the slate suggests an actor consciously refusing to be boxed into one kind of a role. From history to contemporary romance, anthology drama to comedy, Gurfateh’s upcoming projects could well make this his most revealing year yet. Kudos to him for filling his kitty with such meaty roles!

We also reached out to the actor to know how it was shooting for these projects. He said, ”I’ve spent the better part of the last two years working non-stop, sometimes doing double, even triple shifts in a day. Looking back, it’s been exhausting, chaotic, and honestly, one of the most rewarding periods of my career.
The first of these projects is The Revolutionaries, set in the 1910s and rooted in the freedom struggle against the British Raj.”
He further added, “Then came Lust Stories 3, directed by Kiran Rao. That was an absolute roller coaster, one of those rare opportunities that an actor doesn’t get very often today. I’m incredibly glad I got the opportunity, the space, and the freedom to do something like that, and more importantly, to work with Kiran.

Gurfateh said, “At one point, all three were being shot simultaneously. So there were days of constantly shuttling between sets, from Madh Island to DY Patil to Worli Village, running almost entirely on zero sleep and adrenaline.
And then there’s Call Me Bae Season 2. That one feels like home. The show gave me a second life of sorts at the movies, especially after having seen multiple projects get shelved, and I’m incredibly grateful to be back with it.
All four of these should hopefully be out over the next few months, starting September.
And there’s one more, Dynasty, a political drama that’s currently in post-production and should hopefully release sometime next year.
So, after two years of barely stopping, I’m finally getting to a point where all this work is actually going to see the light of day. And I think that might be the most exciting part of it all.
