‘Is there no value for a life here?’: Family of man mowed down in Gurgaon car parking row | Delhi News

Ranjak Jasuja, 34, is making plans to leave his home of seven years in Gurgaon and head to the US with his family. He no longer wants to live in a city where his brother Rishabh died, murdered allegedly by a neighbour during a scuffle over parking.
On Sunday night, 32-year-old Rishabh was trying to resolve a dispute when the neighbour, Manoj, hit him with his car and ran over him. The neighbour is still on the run.

Speaking to The Indian Express a day after the incident, Ranjak sobbed, “Isn’t there any value to the lives of people here? Where is law and order?”

He said the family was heading back home to South City 2 — they had gone to celebrate their mother Pratibha’s visit to the city — and were pulling up near their house when they saw a crowd in the neighbourhood. Ranjak, who runs a paying guest accommodation, got out to see what the commotion was about and found one of his employees being heckled by a neighbour, Manoj.

“My employee was in a taxi and it had blocked the road and Manoj was hurling abuses at him (the former) over this. I tried to intervene but he (Manoj) pushed me with a pipe. All of a sudden, his relatives and aides arrived at the scene, taunting us. My brother and mother also got out by then. Manoj, known in the area for creating a ruckus, started assaulting us. My mother sustained injuries on her hand and her face has become discoloured,” he alleged.

However, Manoj did not stop with that, alleged Ranjak. “… He got into his car… and my brother was standing in front of it, trying to talk to the group… the next thing I knew, he had rammed the vehicle into both of us. We were dragged on the bonnet — while I fell to the side and escaped, my brother fell in front and was run over,” he cried.

Festive offer

Ranjak said he called 112, the emergency response support system, eight times before someone finally answered. “After mowing down my brother, Manoj fled with his aides. We rushed Rishabh to a hospital in our car and the police came there. My mother is devastated, she had to watch her young son die like this,” Ranjak said.

He has resolved to leave the city soon. “What is the point of living in this country when there is no value for life? I have a US visa and will leave with my family. I don’t want to live here anymore,” he said.

Rishabh worked at a shipping company in Gurgaon and hailed from Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar. He got married last year.

The family cremated him on Monday after his post-mortem was completed.

Police said the accused, Manoj Bharadwaj, is yet to be arrested.

According to police, they were informed of the incident at 12.30 am on Monday after Rishabh, Ranjak and Pratibha were taken to a nearby private hospital, where Rishabh was declared dead.

Based on Ranjak’s complaint, an FIR was registered under IPC sections of murder, attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal intimidation at the Sector 50 police station, said officers. Raids are being conducted and Manoj will be nabbed soon, said police.
