A brilliant bowling spell from Jacob Duffy and Ajaz Patel has secured a comfortable victory in the final test of the West Indies tour of New Zealand 2025.
By the win, New Zealand secured a 2-0 win in the test series and made a significant move in the WTC 2025-27 points table.
Duffy’s five-wicket haul in the second innings has made him complete with career-best bowling figures of 9/128 during New Zealand’s 323-run victory in the final test played at Mount Maunganui.
Meanwhile, Ajaz Patel finished with his best innings figures and also the match figures at home, having gone wicketless in his three previous outings in New Zealand.
Resuming the game on the final day, West Indies showed intent of batting time, and for the first session, Brandon King and John Campbell did exactly that.
On the surface, with uneven bounce, the openers showed some discipline. Brandon King made some crucial contributions, scoring 67 runs, including cover drives off Michael Rae and Duffy, and pulling confidently to bring up a well-paced fifty that featured 10 boundaries.

By drinks, the West Indies scored 74 without loss of wickets. New Zealand’s breakthrough came shortly as Duffy dismissed King for 67 runs, while Ajaz grabbed the wicket of Campbell.
Meanwhile, Ajaz Patel picked the wicket of Kavem Hodge for a duck, Jacob Duffy got comfortable ripping up the middle order, dismissing Alick Athanaze, Justin Greaves and Roston Chase.
By the time, the West Indies were driven towards defeat as they lost 6 wickets to score 104 runs.
Shai Hope, who faced 78 deliveries did scored only 3 runs before being dismissed by Ajaz Patel. Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra further gave a cause, bagging the wickets of Kemar Roach and Anderson Philip.
Jacob Duffy delivered the final blow in the 81st over, dismissing Jayden Seales, as West Indies lost all 10 wickets for 138 runs.
