Former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K. Sudhakaran hailed MLA Sunny Joseph’s appointment as the new KPCC president as a continuation of Kannur’s leadership legacy.

“Mr. Joseph is a capable and mature leader. This decision was expected. I realised it was coming during the discussion with party leaders two days ago,” said Mr. Sudhakaran at a joint press meet with Mr. Joseph in Kannur on Thursday.

“Mr. Joseph is my own. I am only happy about his appointment. Holding a position for four years is a big deal. Now, with a new team, there will be tireless work,” Mr. Sudhakaran referring to the upcoming election.

In response, Mr. Joseph described it as an honour to succeed Mr. Sudhakaran.

“He (Mr. Sudhakaran) called me as soon as the news broke and assured his full support and blessing,” said Mr. Joseph. He added that Mr. Sudhakaran’s gesture of placing his hands on his head in blessing was a moment of emotional significance.

Acknowledging the responsibility ahead, Mr. Joseph said his priority would be organisational strengthening. “Leadership is a big responsibility. I will need everyone’s support to carry it forward successfully,” he said
