Police are currently investigation whether Ranya is operating alone or is connected to a larger smuggling network. The investigations will also bring out if the operations are being carried out between Dubai and India. Rao is majorly known for starring alongside Kannada superstar Sudeep in Maanikya (2014). She has also appeared in Wagah and her debut in Kannada comedy films was with Pataki. She is originally from Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka.

Ranya Rao had arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from Dubai on an Emirates flight. She had been under surveillance due to her frequent international travel. The authorities reportedly sensed something when they found out that the actress made four trips to Dubai in the last fifteen days. The cops began a investigating when she returned on Monday.
