Full list of the most expensive overs in IPL: Chennai Super Kings, pacer Khaleel Ahmed set an unwanted record of leaking the most runs in an over of the Indian Premier League 2025 during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. During the 19th over of the first innings, Khaleel was hit for 33 runs by RCB batter Romario Shepherd as the left-hand pacer bowled the most expensive over of the season.
Shepherd started the over with a six over mid-wicket. He followed it up with a down-the-ground maximum before an outside edge ball raced away for a four at short third. The next two deliveries also went out of the park, with the fifth delivery being a no-ball. Khaleel bowled a dot delivery, denying any runs in a free-hit delivery before Shepherd ended the over with a four to take 33 off Khaleel’s third over.
Khaleel ended with a spell of 3-0-65-0.
His 33-run over put him joint-fifth in the list of most expensive overs ever bowled in the history of IPL. Prashanth Parameswaran and Harshal Patel both hold the record for the costliest over in IPL, leaking 37 runs in an over. During the 2011 season, Parameswaran, playing for Kochi Tuskers Kerala (now defunct), was hit for 37 runs against RCB. In IPL 2021, Patel, playing for RCB, gave 37 against CSK.
Mumbai Indians’ Daniel Sams was hit for 35 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2022. With a 33-run over, Ravi Bopara and Parwinder Awana, both playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), sit joint fifth on the list alongside Khaleel.
