Former Tamil Nadu Congress chief Kumari Ananthan, 93, passed away in Chennai in the early hours of Wednesday (April 9, 2025) due to age-related illness. He is the father of senior BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Nagercoil as a Congress candidate in 1977.
Mr. Ananthan was a member of the Tamil Nadu Assembly five times. He was an eminent orator in Tamil. His body will be kept at his daughter’s house at Saligramam for people to pay their last respects.
