People from all walks of life are gathering at the Triveni Sangam to take a holy dip as the Maha Kumbh continues. Officials had expected 40-45 crore to attend the grand religious gathering.

Maha Kumbh 2025: The grand Maha Kumbh is still drawing devotees from all corners of the world to participate in one of the largest gatherings of humanity with officials saying that more than 41 crore have taken a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.
The world’s largest human gathering represents a unique confluence of faith, tradition and meticulous planning to accommodate millions of pilgrims. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which comes after 12 Kumbh Melas, has been proclaimed as the ‘Maha Yagya of Unity’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
More than 410 million devotees have taken a holy dip at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. On Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam, accompanied by Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma.
“Sangam has the blessings of Maa Ganga and Maa Yamuna and Prayagraj is the supreme place of all pilgrimages. So the pleasure of having a holy dip here is achieved after the virtues of many births. I prayed here for the wellness of Madhya Pradesh’s people, especially for youth and fortune for every section of the society,” Yadav told ANI.
Former Union minister and Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur Anurag Thakur along with his wife also took a holy dip in Sangam on Saturday. “On the holy occasion of Maha Kumbh in Punyadhara Prayagraj, took a holy bath, worshiped and prayed for the welfare of all on the banks of the confluence of the divine streams of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna and Maa Saraswati,” he said on X.
Celebrities like Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, Bhagyashree and Milind Soman, as well as poet Kumar Vishwas, cricketer Suresh Raina, wrestler Khali, choreographer Remo D’Souza and Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara, Mamta Kulkarni also visited the sacred site this year.
Held once every 12 years, people attend Maha Kumbh to take a dip in the sacred waters, believed to wash away sins and purify the soul. The event has been set up at around 4,000 hectares and will continue till February 26.
