Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, the iconic Welcome duo, reunite in the city to promote Vanvaas, sparking nostalgia among fans who celebrate their roles as Majnu Bhai and Uday Shetty.
The classic comedy Welcome, featuring Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, and Nana Patekar, holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Today, fans were delighted as the iconic pair Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor reunited in the city after a long hiatus.
Nana Patekar recently recorded a special podcast with Anil Kapoor to promote his upcoming film, Vanvaas. Photos and videos of the two posing for the media quickly went viral, with fans reliving their beloved roles as ‘Uday’ and ‘Majnu Bhai’ from Welcome. In the viral footage, Anil Kapoor sports an all-black ensemble, featuring a black shirt with rolled-up sleeves and black pants, accessorized with sunglasses and a watch. Nana Patekar complements the look in a black shirt paired with white pants.
The reunion, as they filmed the podcast, sparked joy among fans who flooded the comment section with excitement. One fan wrote, “Want to see them again soon,” while another pleaded, “We need another Welcome movie!! The films nowadays are rubbish.” Others reminisced by quoting memorable lines from the movie.
For those unaware, the third installment of the Welcome series has been announced, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Paresh Rawal, among others. However, both Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor declined to participate.
In an interview with Lallantop, Nana Patekar, known for his recent role in The Vaccine War, shared that the success of his character ‘Uday Shetty’ was inseparable from Anil’s ‘Majnu Bhai’ and that the magic of Welcome required them both. He revealed that although approached for the upcoming film, he and Anil Kapoor turned it down due to dissatisfaction with the script.
As for his current projects, Nana Patekar is set to star in Vanvaas, directed by Gadar 2 filmmaker Anil Sharma. Announced on Dussehra, the film features a cast including Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Khushboo Sundar, and Rajpal Yadav in significant roles.
