As Maharashtra State Board declared the HSC results, students of city colleges celebrated their success. While the state board has stopped declaring toppers, The Indian Express spoke to a few high scoring students from city colleges.
Anishka Khatri
96.83% in Commerce
RA Podar College
Aspiring to be a chartered accountant, Anishka is currently preparing for her foundation exam in the upcoming month. When asked about what motivated her to become a CA, Anishka credited much of her drive to her parents and her distinct interest in the subjects. About her success in HSC, Anishka said, “It is important to read textbooks thoroughly and avoid burdening oneself with unnecessary stress.” She was so fulfilled with her college experience, that she intends to pursue her bachelors’ degree in Commerce at Podar.
Latika Shetty
95.5% in Arts
St Xavier’s College
With the impressive score, Latika plans to continue studying in St Xavier’s College to pursue a Bachelors degree in Economics and Statistics. As she intends to appear for competitive exams for civil services soon after, Latika said those preparing for HSC should start preparing as early as possible. “It helps to get ahead of the overload of work through the year. I began my HSC preparations soon after taking the Class 11 exam.” Even as she believes in starting early, Latika discourages others from stressing about exams.
Amit Phadke
97.17% in science
PACE Junior College, Thane
An IIT aspirant, Amit was delighted to know his HSC score while preparing for JEE–Advanced, entrance test for IIT admissions. Even as Amit aims at joining IIT Bombay, he is currently focused on preparing for the entrance test, and will make his decision based on his score. This Thane resident has already cleared JEE–Main with 95.5 percentile. Unlike the conventional choice of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) in IIT Bombay, Amit is looking forward to electrical engineering. “Even during my junior college studies, I enjoyed topics related to electrical engineering,” said Amit. He feels his key to success is consistent in efforts and not taking stress over anything.

Ramnivas Ruia Junior College
Having been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth, there is nothing that stopped her from believing in limitless opportunities for all. “No student with a disability, be it physical or mental, must limit his/her own capabilities. Nor must any other person assume that disabled people are restricted in their power to achieve success,” said Janhavi who wishes to complete her Bachelors in French from the same college, owing to an accommodating faculty. It is because of her love for languages that she intends to create a rewarding career in the field.
