Nicki Minaj declares herself Donald Trump’s “No. 1 fan” after becoming a US citizen, saying criticism only fuels her support for the president.

Nicki Minaj has publicly doubled down on her support for Donald Trump, declaring herself his biggest fan while also revealing that she is now a US citizen. The rapper made the remarks during a Treasury Department-hosted summit in Washington, DC, held to launch “Trump Accounts” for newborn babies.
“I will say that I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan,” the “Starships” rapper told the crowd on Wednesday.
“And that’s not going to change,” the 43-year-old performer added.
Minaj dismissed criticism surrounding her political stance, making it clear that public backlash has had no impact on her beliefs.
“The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more, and it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more,” she said.
The rapper, born Onika Maraj, went on to accuse critics of orchestrating smear campaigns against Trump.
“We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him and the smear campaigns. It’s not going to work, OK? He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him,” she said, ahead of Trump’s remarks at the event.
Alongside her public endorsement, Minaj has also received Donald Trump’s Gold Card, which grants her US residency.
While she previously distanced herself from Trump during the 2020 election cycle, her stance has shifted noticeably in recent years.
In 2020, Minaj said she wouldn’t “jump on the Donald Trump bandwagon.” However, she has since become increasingly vocal in her support. Last month, the entertainer made a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s annual conference, where she praised the president.
“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president,” Minaj said at the time.
“He has, I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact. He’s from Queens, New York, like me,” she added.
Trump Praises Minaj at White House Event
At Wednesday’s summit, Trump returned the praise, calling Minaj the “greatest and most successful female rapper in history.” He also thanked her for donating “hundreds of thousands of dollars” into the Trump accounts initiative.
“I just think she’s great,” Trump said of Minaj.
“I didn’t know Nicki, and I’ve been hearing over the years she’s a big Trump supporter, or Trump fan. And she took a little heat on occasion because her community isn’t necessarily a Trump fan,” he said.
In a lighter moment, Trump joked about Minaj’s long, painted nails while holding her hand on stage.
“I’m going to let my nails grow because I love those nails. I’m going to let those nails grow,” he told the audience with a laugh.
