Nora Fatehi has once again addressed the controversy surrounding Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from KD: The Devil, this time taking aim at the wave of influencers and online criticism that followed the song’s release. The actor-dancer said the backlash did not take her by surprise and claimed she was familiar with the “script” being followed by those weighing in on the controversy.

Speaking on the Dream with Dr Sheen podcast, Nora said she had developed a thick skin over the years and was not shaken when the outrage erupted. “I already know who hired you, when, and how much they paid you,” she said, adding that someone had made the most of the controversy as an opportunity.
Nora said she was shooting elsewhere for three days when the controversy exploded and initially had no idea about the scale of the backlash.
The actor maintained that she had shot a Kannada version of the song around three years ago and did not know that a Hindi adaptation would later be created. According to Nora, she had neither performed to the Hindi version nor given permission for her image to be used with it.
“When I saw the Hindi version, I knew it would get backlash,” she said, adding that she told the director her image and reputation were at stake.

Nora admitted that songs with such themes are produced regularly and clarified that she was not defending the content.
However, she questioned the extent of an actor’s control once a project has been completed, saying artists often have “little power and control” over how material is later altered, dubbed or presented.
She also addressed those who continued to question her explanation despite her detailed clarification. Nora pointed out that only snippets, clips and AI-generated images had circulated online rather than the complete song, yet she continued to face accusations of dishonesty.
The controversy eventually resulted in the song being taken down, with Nora saying she was thankful that the backlash had prompted action. She also urged filmmakers and producers to be held accountable for the content they create.
Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke featured in the Kannada action-thriller KD: The Devil, directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty and Reeshma Nanaiah. The film was released in theatres on April 30, 2026.
