Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar

India’s Grand Mufti Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar paid tribute to Pope Francis, describing him as a champion of humanity.

The Grand Mufti recalled the Pope’s invaluable contributions, including his tireless efforts to support refugees and minorities, promote religious harmony, and advocate for peace.

Mr. Kanthapuram also noted the Pope’s strong connection with the Arab community and the Muslim world. “In his Easter message, he expressed solidarity with those suffering in Palestine and called for support for those struggling with hunger,” he said.

The Grand Mufti fondly recalled his personal interactions with Pope Francis at international conferences in Abu Dhabi in 2019 and Bahrain in 2022, where they developed a warm and friendly bond.
