If your weekend checklist includes Netflix, laundry, or finally charging all those forgotten devices, you might want to add one more thing — checking the power schedule. BESCOM’s routine maintenance work means temporary power cuts are likely across parts of Bengaluru this weekend, especially in areas that regularly face scheduled outages during infrastructure upgrades.

While BESCOM has not yet released a city wide, official list specifically tagged for this weekend, recent maintenance patterns and alerts from the utility suggest that select neighbourhoods in East and South Bengaluru are most likely to be affected, typically between 10 am and 4 pm.

Weekend outages are usually planned to minimise disruption to offices and commercial zones. BESCOM uses this window to carry out transformer upgrades, cable replacement and safety maintenance, which means short term inconvenience for residents but long-term stability for the grid.

Areas that may see interruptions this weekend

Based on recent maintenance notices and recurring outage zones, residents in the following areas are advised to stay prepared.

Bommanahalli

HSR Layout

Kudlu

Jakkasandra

Bellandur

Sarjapur Road surroundings

Marathahalli

Whitefield pockets

KR Puram

Mahadevapura

Banaswadi

Horamavu

Power cuts in these localities are usually scheduled for a few hours during the day, though exact timings can vary depending on the nature of the work and weather conditions.

What residents should do

If you live in any of these areas, it’s best to treat this weekend as a possible low power zone. Charge phones, power banks and laptops in advance. If you work from home, keep a backup plan ready — a café with good Wi Fi might suddenly become your best friend.

For those running small businesses or working shifts, checking BESCOM’s official outage page or local subdivision office on Friday evening can save a lot of last-minute stress.

A quick reality check

Not every listed area will necessarily face a shutdown, and some neighbourhoods may only experience brief interruptions. But with maintenance work ongoing across the city, being prepared beats being surprised, especially when the fan stops mid-afternoon.

Bengaluru weekends are for rest, not for hunting candles in the dark. If you are heading into Saturday and Sunday with big home plans, a quick power check might be the smartest thing you do all weekend.
