Priyanka Chopra decided to give her fans a laugh this weekend, and all it took was one photo from 2004. The actor, who rarely misses a chance to poke fun at herself, revisited an old still from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and turned her ultra-thin eyebrows into the punchline. With just one Instagram Story, she had fans cracking up — and also feeling major nostalgia.
Priyanka’s funny throwback moment
On Sunday, Priyanka shared a still from the Salman Khan–Akshay Kumar comedy and focused on the one thing no one forgets about early-2000s Bollywood: the razor-thin eyebrows. Posting the picture, she wrote, “Thank the Lord my eyebrows grew back.” The throwback instantly went viral, reminding fans how the actor switched from that look to one of the most recognisable global styles today.
Mujhse Shaadi Karogi: the breakout era
Released in 2004, David Dhawan’s Mujhse Shaadi Karogi starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, along with Amrish Puri, Kader Khan, Satish Shah and Rajpal Yadav. The film was a major commercial success and a big step forward in Priyanka’s early Bollywood journey.
Priyanka’s earlier revelation about her botched face after polyp removal
In 2023, Priyanka opened up about one of the most challenging chapters of her life — a botched, doctor-recommended nasal polyp removal that altered her appearance. On The Howard Stern Show, she said, “This thing happens, and my face looks completely different, and I went into a deep, deep depression.” She recalled believing her acting career was “over before it started” until her father encouraged her to undergo corrective surgery. Priyanka Chopra also thanked Bollywood director Anil Sharma, who is best known for helming Gadar, for giving her an acting role after she lost three different movie projects following her surgery. “I was supposed to play this lead, and I was shifted to a supporting character. That filmmaker was very kind … He, while the tide was against me, said, ‘It will be a small part but give it your all.’ And I did,” said Priyanka.
Her Hollywood run and comeback to Indian cinema
After The Sky Is Pink (2019), Priyanka shifted to international projects including The Matrix Resurrections, Love Again, Heads of State and Citadel. Now, she’s gearing up for her big return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, co-starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Character posters for Priyanka and Prithviraj have already been unveiled, while Mahesh’s first-look reveal at the Hyderabad event generated huge buzz.
