Investigators probing the November 10 Delhi blast believe the doctors involved in the attack had been radicalised over the last five years, according to officials familiar with the case. The explosion near the Red Fort killed 15 people and left more than a dozen injured after a Hyundai i20 driven by Umar-un-Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor from Al-Falah University in Faridabad, blew up.

According to a report in NDTV, the key accused have been identified as Kashmiri doctors Muzammil Shakeel Ganai, Adeel Ahmed Rather, his brother Muzaffar Ahmed Rather, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay — all associated with the same university.

Investigators said their radicalisation began during their MBBS studies or internships, with handlers cultivating them since 2020. Muzammil, Adeel, Mufti and an aide, Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow, have been arrested, while Muzaffar is believed to have fled the country.

Officials said the group was allegedly shown AI-generated videos portraying Muslim genocide in an attempt to fuel hatred and groom them for suicide missions.

J&K Medical Council Issues Guidelines Amid Radicalisation Concerns

Amid concerns that Pakistan and the ISI are attempting to radicalise educated youth, including doctors, in Jammu & Kashmir through social media platforms, the J&K Medical Council has issued fresh directives for doctors, MBBS students and other medical staff outlining strict dos and don’ts for online conduct.

The Registrar and Secretary of the Council said that social media has become a powerful tool that can be used “either in a destructive or constructive way”, and monitoring has now been intensified. The IT cell at GMC Jammu has begun tracking the social media activity of doctors, medical students and staff to prevent misuse, officials said.

The Council added that clear directions have been issued to all medical professionals and that any violation of these norms will invite action under J&K Medical Council rules.
