Saif Ali Khan has been winning hearts with his versatile performances for decades. From giving romance goals as the protagonist to portraying a villain, Saif has done it all. In his recent film Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, the actor was seen essaying the role of a charming yet cunning thief, Rehan Roy. While sharing his experience shooting the movie, Saif reflected on his journey and talked about competition within the film industry.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor discussed Jewel Thief, which premiered on Netflix in April. In the conversation, Saif shared his views on rivalries within the film industry. In his opinion, the primary focus of the actors should always be on the success of the film rather than on their individual selves. The Hum Tum actor believes it is the only way to stop rivalries from forming, as everyone is committed to contributing their best.
“The most important thing is the film. So on that level there’s no competition because you’re just happy the other person’s there and everyone’s contributing beautifully to the film,” Saif said.
In a candid confession, the Dil Chahta Hai actor added, “There might have been times where I’ve felt (competitive), insecure…we’re all humans, and the profession is like that as well, but in this case particularly and in most cases it’s the film first and like I said and competing for your character’s importance.”
Talking about working with fellow actors, Saif recalled his experience working with Jaideep Ahlawat on the sets of Jewel Thief. He praised Ahlawat’s performance in the film.
Additionally, Saif also talked about the evolution of a hero in Bollywood films. He explained that although the core idea of heroes have not changed completely, it has expanded to a great extent, recognising heroic qualities in flawed characters to make the story more relatable.
