Shruti Haasan, the elder daughter of Kamal Haasan and Sarika, has starred in some popular films across various industries and has a compelling music career. Shruti, in the past, has acknowledged her privileges and in a recent interview, she shared how her parents’ separation “humbled” as she saw a life that was devoid of any luxury.
“I was very humbled by my parents’ separation. When we moved from Chennai to Mumbai, it wasn’t like we moved from a mansion to another mansion. It wasn’t really comfortable in Mumbai. But I am glad these lessons happened. From travelling everywhere in a Mercedes to taking the local train was an abrupt changeover, and I realised how we can learn from both these journeys,” she shared in a chat with Filmfare.

Shruti revealed that after spending a few years away from Chennai, she found it in her to make a few amends in her personal life too. “I had reconnected with appa by then, and went abroad to study music,” said Shruti, adding that her aim was to be financially independent without showcasing a feeling of entitlement.
The Salaar actor candidly admitted that even if she wasn’t entitled, there was a sense of attitude to her demeanour. “Honestly, it wasn’t from a place of thinking I was better, but it was because I felt lesser than everyone around me. I think there was a fear inside me, and even thought I was projecting confidence, I was shaken to my core for many years,” said Shruti, signing off by explaining how there was a shift in her attitude when she gradually learnt to be humble. “I realised the more humble I became, the more well-mannered I was, and I exuded a lot more confidence.”
