At least two CRPF commandos injured in Naxal firing at remote base in Sukma

Two CoBRA commandos of the CRPF were injured in an exchange of fire with Naxals on Monday (December 23, 2024) while they were securing a forward base set up in a remote jungle area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, officials said. The incident took place at the Gomguda forward operating base (FOB) of the Central Reserve Police Force that was established by the troops on Sunday. A statement by the NSG said 31 teams from States such as Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Chandigarh, and 10 teams from five CAPFs, comprising a total of 667 elite commandos, participated in the exercise. “The exercises honed counter-terrorist, bomb disposal, and K9 teams’ (dog squads) skills through demonstrations, displays, and case studies, emphasising on joint operations in challenging scenarios to improve the coordination and synergy between NSG and State-level forces. Armed with pencils and other drawing materials, they have been tasked with telling comic book-style stories to convey their message in a sequential manner. MHA issues advisory to create `Special Wing of Cyber Commandos` in all states

Amid growing cyber threats, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday issued an advisory to all states regarding the establishment of a Special Wing of Cyber Commandos. In the past week, Indian airlines have received more than 100 hoax bomb threats resulting in inconvenience to passengers and monetary loss to the airlines. Most of the threats were posted on accounts on X and the accounts were created by using a virtual private network (VPN) or dark web browser that investigative agencies have been unable to detect. The decision has been taken by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) after witnessing growing cyber threats and to enhance cyber defence capabilities. In the order copy accessed by the ANI reads that during the DGPs, lGPs Conference held in the month of January 2023 and 2024, the Prime Minister recommended that a Special Wing of suitably trained `Cyber Commandos` should be established within a police organization to counter threats of cyber security from cyberspace. RRU to train 30 cops as ‘cyber commandos’

THE RASHTRIYA Raksha University (RRU) will train 30 police officers, including four women, to be ‘cyber commandos’ at a six-month long training programme that was inaugurated at the university campus in Gandhinagar’s Lavad on Tuesday. In collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs, the initiative was announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 10, an official release of the varsity said. Director General of Police Vikas Sahay, chief guest at the event, emphasised upon the historical importance of establishing such a specialised unit within law enforcement, drawing parallels with previous successful anti-crime units like the greyhounds that combated Naxalism. The six-month residential programme includes practical instruction in ethical hacking, digital forensics, threat intelligence, incident response strategies, and other advanced cybersecurity measures. The curriculum covers critical topics such as IT fundamentals, cloud computing, cyber laws, and IoT security.
