The Solapur Division of Central Railway has successfully completed a major infrastructure upgrade at Tikekarwadi station yard, aimed at improving safety, increasing capacity and enhancing overall operational efficiency. The works were carried out during recently completed traffic blocks and form part of the division`s ongoing efforts to modernise railway infrastructure and prepare for future growth in passenger and freight traffic. One of the key improvements is the commissioning of a modern Electronic Interlocking system, replacing the older Panel Interlocking arrangement. The new system improves safety by reducing the possibility of human error and ensuring safer and more reliable train movements within the station yard. Extended lines to handle longer trains The station`s operational lines have been extended to accommodate longer passenger and freight trains. This enhancement will increase capacity, ease congestion and help meet the growing demand for rail transport in the region. Within the Pune division, Pune district led with 93.32%. A total of 2,41,826 students appeared across the division, of whom 2,20,680 passed. The result marks a marginal drop of 0.62 percentage points from last year’s 91.88%, in line with the overall decline in state performance. Pune district reported 1,29,941 students appearing and 1,21,263 passing the exam. Science stream results remained the strongest at 98.14%, followed by commerce at 89.02% and arts at 83.37%. Girls outperformed boys by 4.52 percentage points. Ahilyanagar recorded a pass percentage of 90.32%, with 53,196 students clearing the exam out of 58,895 who appeared. The gender gap was higher, with girls outperforming boys by 8.71 percentage points. Science led at 96.55%, while commerce and arts recorded 85.26% and 75.59%, respectively. The division registered its highest-ever passenger revenue of ₹449.13 crore, surpassing the previous record of ₹419.89 crore. Ticket checking earnings reached an all-time high of ₹9.75 crore, exceeding both the previous best and the annual target. In the non-fare revenue streams, significant growth was observed with the division earning record earnings in commercial publicity (₹3.17 crore), parking (₹4.02 crore), and catering (₹2.61 crore), all surpassing previous financial year figures. On the freight front, the division recorded its second-highest freight revenue of ₹900.19 crore. Automobile loading reached a historic high with 116 rakes, generating ₹23.94 crore. Additionally, the division achieved the second-highest iron ore loading of 8.665 million tonnes.
